Detect Language in Google Sheets

Google Sheets will do its best to detect the language of a given string or cell range using the DETECTLANGUAGE function. Here’s the syntax:


The source parameter can be either a literal string:

DETECTLANGUAGE(“Bienvenido a mi hoja de cálculo”)

or a range:


The function returns the ISO 2-character code for the language it detects. If the source contains multiple languages, the first language found will be returned; if none can be evaluated, the function returns und meaning undefined.
