Transpose Rows and Columns in Google Sheets

Occasionally it’s useful to swap – or transpose, to use the correct jargon – the rows and columns in a spreadsheet.

You can do that with the TRANSPOSE() spreadsheet function, but there’s also a quick way using cut and paste.

In the source spreadsheet, select the range of interest:

Now move to the location where you want to place the transposed data. In my example it’s another sheet in the same spreadsheet document.  Select Edit > Paste special > Paste transpose:

The data from the clipboard will be pasted transposed:
