When you’re editing documents in Google Drive, you probably quite frequently use copy and paste to insert text from other sources. Unfortunately this can have unpredictable and time consuming consequences, as you then make all the necessary changes to fonts, color and so on so the new material looks right.
The Remove Formatting button can save you a load of time. After you paste your text into Gmail or a Google Document, highlight that text and then click the Remove Formatting icon on the toolbar to have all your text made consistent with the current document.
Now you can carry on and format that text any way you want:
But there’s an even shorter way, if you remember to do it (I never do!)
When you paste in your new text, do so with Ctrl + Shift + V instead of the usual Ctrl + V, and it’ll be pasted without format information.
