Pre-filled Responses in Google Forms

When creating forms to collect spreadsheet data, as we discussed in this post, you can pre-fill values in certain fields. Users can overwrite these values, but they serve as a default value or as a suggestion. Let’s see an example using a form created for a previous post, which collects offers of sponsorship for a charity event.

To access this functionality, click on Responses in the toolbar, and then select Get pre-filled URL:

Fill out the default values for any fields you would like pre-filled. Here we’re suggesting a sponsorship value of ten dollars (or pounds, euros etc.) to the user.

Do something similar with any other fields you want to pre-fill, before pressing Submit. You’ll then be given a special URL for the pre-filled version of your form.

Copy the new URL and share that, rather than sharing the conventional URL, and your users will see pre-filled values in certain form fields.
