In a recent post I discussed how to direct document comments toward particular collaborators, in order to better control the amount of notifications that can circulate for large or much-edited documents.
Another technique that can help is to use the notifications management that’s built in to Google Docs. Open the Comments interface in a document on which you’re shared and look for the Notifications drop-down:
This drop-down menu allows you to select which notifications you receive: All of them (the default), None, or a third option Replies to you. This last option lets you receive notifications only when you’re a named recipient:
This can save you a lot of time you’d otherwise spend reading irrelevant notifications.
