# Improved Headers, Footers, Page Numbering in Google Docs

Some while ago in this post I discussed page numbering in Google Docs. Now, you can insert different headers and footers on the first page of their documents, which is useful when making a title page without headers or footers.

When you create a header or footer in your document you’ll now see a checkbox. Check it to set a different header and footer on the first page.

You’ll also find an Insert > Page number menu item that lets you customize how and where to start numbering pages, so you can begin on page 2 (for example) if you have a title page that you don’t want numbered.
