Customized Lists in Google Docs

Google Docs lets you customize your lists, whether they are numbered or bullet-style lists.

Just choose the list of bullets you want to edit, and right click on them. There are a number of built-in icons and styles you can pick from:.

Alternatively, choose Format and then either Bulleted list or Numbered list from the top menu.

If that isn’t enough choice for you, try selecting More bullets … in the above pop-up to open a new dialog with an extensive choice of icons:

This works in both Docs and Presentations.

The technique works for numbered lists just as well as it does for bullets. There’s an extra little trick, though, with numbered lists; take a look at this numbered list:

If I now choose to continue my list after the graphic, the numbering resets to number 1:

Once again, I can right-click on the number, but this time choose Restart numbering… from the dialog.

I’m now asked at what number I’d like numbering restarted (and, of course, I choose 4):
