Custom Google Searches: Wikipedia

In a previous post I talked about setting up a custom search from the Google Chrome onmnibar to let you search your Google Drive files. You can use exactly the same technique to build other custom searches.

If, like me, you find yourself referring to Wikipedia a lot, then try setting up some custom searches of the Wikipedia site.

To search for the works of a particular author, for instance, you can use this custom search:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Search?search=%s+bibliography

Here I’m adding it to Chrome’s custom searches using bib as the keyword which will activate this search (refer to the previous post for how to do this):

When I activate the custom search, Chrome now prompts me for an author:

Typing in Mark Twain, for example, takes me directly to the appropriate bibliography:

Here’s a custom search you can use to list the episodes of your favourite TV series:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Search?search=list+of+%s+episodes

And another, this time to list the recordings of a particular artist or band:
