If, like me, you have trouble remembering the exact syntax of formulae in Google Sheets, there’s help at hand. Google Sheets does its best to make out what you’re trying to do and offer you pop-up information to help you.
In this previous post we looked at the COUNTIF function, and used it to count the number of candidates who passed a test. As we try to type the COUNTIF formula, a pop-up window opens with all the formulae that match what has currently been typed:
Click on any of these options to get a summary of the syntax for the formula:
You can select one of these options by clicking on it, then just fill in the parameters and you’re good to go.
In some cases, Google Sheets will even try to get example parameters from your sheet to use in its examples!
