Sometimes your document is crying out for a layout displaying two tables side by side:
But how can you arrange two tables this way? There’s a little trick. We’re going to create those two tables inside another table, then hide the outer table.
First, create a 2-column by 1-tow table:
With the table in place, I prefer to drag the lower edge until I have some space (it doesn’t matter if you make the table deeper than necessary, you can close it up later):
Now create two further tables, one within each cell of the containing table:
Now you can fill in your table content. Once completed, right-click inside the containing table (but outside of the smaller tables it contains), and select Table properties…
You can make the outer table disappear, either by setting the table’s border to zero (0pt) width, or by setting the border colour equal to the page background.
